YACA is Jena High School's Art Club.YACA is an anacronym for the Youth Art Council of America which is a state organization composed of middle and high school students and their sponsors from all over Louisiana.

YACA club is open to all students who enjoy using their art skills to make Benton High School a better School.  This club also provides artistic opportunities for those students who cannot fit art into their school schedule.

Some of the activities in which the YACA Club is involved include making posters, signs, decorations, backdrops and murals for various sports, activities and organizations at our school.  During homecoming week and playoff games we paint the tiger eye on the football field.  Students are selected in Oct. to attend our annual YACA Leadership meeting in Forest Hill, La.  This is a chance for students to mingle and get an idea of what Convention will be all about.  Art activities and games are planned for the students and the teachers get the opportunity to meet and network to share successful lesson plans as well as go over the binder of information that the hosting region for Art Convention has prepared.  Art Convention is a three-day, 2-night fun and activity filled gathering of YACA chapters from all over Louisiana.  There are games, activities, chapter demonstrations, art show competition, banquet, performance-based contest, a dance, and much more!

Club meetings generally held the 3rdThursday of the month but pay attention to announcements and School Loop notifications for announcements and meeting reminders. Meetings will be held in the art room at 7:45 A.M. for your convenience.  If you can't make the meeting, stop by Mrs. Smith's room to see what's going on.
